Barre Basic

Barre fitness classes are simply ballet-inspired movements while incorporating a ballet barre.  It may look like ballet but it’s not. Barre classes incorporate elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and weight training.

The great part of barre classes, “No experience required.”  Barre recognizes that each person has a different starting point, different strengths, and challenges our instructors are trained to guide you through the movements.  The correct body positioning is taught so that you can obtain the maximum benefit of the movement.

Modifications are provided throughout the workout allowing you to workout at your own level and comfort. With every choreographed exercise there is a simplified modification and/ or an opportunity to advance each move further. Always measure progress against yourself; not the person next to you!

This basic Barre technique is the quickest and most effective way to reshape your entire body. The exercises are precise isometric movements that puts the work in the muscle, followed by passive stretching which extends and lengthens the muscle we just worked. 

The small, super-controlled movements are low impact which are easy on the joints but hard on the muscles, and also helps improve posture and balance. The movements that take place in barre classes reduce pressure on your joints, tendons, ligaments and spine. By doing barre regularly, you will also notice a remarkable improvement in your core strength and posture. While a tight core will give you a taller appearance, it will also keep you safer from injuries.

The result of basic Barre is a graceful, strong dancer-like shape, including toned arms, flat abs, a “perky” seat, and sculpted thighs.

After each satisfyingly exhausting class, your entire body will truly feel WORKED. You will feel stretched, strengthened and energized. A good workout does deliver its own “barre high.” 

Barre classes are Never boring, always fun, always exciting.  The time you spend in class passes very quickly, the fast pace, variety of exercises, upbeat motivating music, the ever-changing choreography and inspiring instructors. It’s never the same class twice!
